Graduation - Class of 2024

Commencement Ceremony

  • Saturday, May 18th, 10:00 a.m., at Belvidere North, Milt Brown Stadium Doors open at 9:15 for parents and guests

  • Graduates report no later than 9:15 a.m. on Saturday

  • The Commencement Ceremony will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m.   

  • After the BNHS ceremony, students must pick up their diploma in the gym (only the covers are handed out during the ceremony).    

Graduation Checkout Process

There are several tasks that you must complete. Four requirements that all graduating seniors must meet to receive a diploma are:

  1. All graduation requirements as stated in the Student Handbook must be completed. If you fail any required courses or if you are short credits, you will not graduate or be allowed to participate in the commencement  ceremony.  
  2. All fees must be paid through PushCoin to receive your cap and gown for the graduation ceremony. Please see Mrs. VanGorkum, the bookkeeper, in the Main Office if you have questions or to pay your balance.
  3. Complete or opt out of their FAFSA (State-wide requirement for all high school graduates in Illinois)

  4. By the end of the day on Tuesday, May 14, students must complete the following checkout procedures: 
    • Classrooms:  Check in all textbooks with your teachers
    • Library:  Return all library books and all fines/lost book charges paid
      • Students can keep their Chromebooks

    • Main Office:  Pay unpaid bills and obligations from previous years 

Your failure to complete the checkout procedures may result in non-participation in the ceremony and delay in issuing a diploma.

Scholarship Recognition- Due to Mrs. Garcia in Office B by Wednesday, April 24 @ 3:00 p.m.

  • Scholarship Recognition- We would like to recognize members of the senior class who will be receiving merit-based scholarships from universities or national organizations by including their names and the title of the scholarship in our commencement program.  If your student has received an award or scholarship you would like acknowledged in our commencement program, please have them indicate it in Section 10 of the Exit Ticket.  Monetary amounts will not be included in the program.  

  • Immunization Request- Most residential colleges/universities require a copy of immunization records. If your child plans to attend college in the fall and needs a copy of his or her immunization records, he or she should indicate it on Section 8 of the Exit Ticket.

  • Transcripts- Students will be able to request final transcripts by going to This information is in Section 7 of the Exit Ticket. Final transcripts will be available after June 24th.

Senior Sunset - May 15

  • 6:30-9:00 p.m. Milt Brown Stadium
  • Class of 2024 gets to spend their last night watching the sunset together on the football field.

  • Students can bring games to play, music, or food if they want.

Graduation Walk & Practice - May 17

  • Your attendance at the commencement practice is required if you are planning to participate in the graduation ceremony. 
  • Report to the gym beginning at 8:30 a.m.  

  • We will start practice off with a Graduation Walk where students will be bussed to their original elementary schools and middle schools before walking through Belvidere North one last time.  Buses leave at 9:00 a.m.  Don’t be late.

  • Practice will last until approximately 11:30 a.m.

  • If you are not planning to attend the graduation ceremony, notify Mrs. Garcia at (815) 547-3568 by Tuesday, May 14. 

  • Cap and gowns will be distributed at this time.

    • Official cap and gown must be worn in order to participate in the Commencement Ceremony. 

Graduation Tickets & Livestream

  • Graduation Tickets:  Each graduate will be given seven (7) tickets for family and friends to attend the graduation ceremony.  Tickets will be distributed with caps and gowns at graduation practice. 
  • Livestream will be available through this link and on this page.

Graduation Pictures

Visual Image Photography (VIP) will be taking pictures of each graduate receiving his/her diploma.  VIP will send out an email to parents/students after graduation advising them that their pictures are online at and available for ordering.
